My little brother and his wife are expecting their first baby. First babies mean baby showers. And in my mind baby showers equal decorated cookies. My brother and his wife are both engineers. So a math equation would be appropriate
first baby=baby shower=decorated cookies
It has been so blasted hot that I haven’t wanted to turn on my oven. So I haven’t made cookies in a long, long time. Maybe you’ve noticed a lack of cookies on the blog lately. Thank goodness it has cooled down a little to allow for some cookie making fun.
When I was trying to figure out what kind of cookies to make, I remembered that my sister-in-law is obsessed with rubber duckies. She collects them. They were the table decorations at their wedding dinner. It might be unhealthy. I don’t know. But I’m glad because they made for some cute cookies.
I did my duckies with bubbles like they were just getting out of the bathtub.
I also had to do baby face cookies because they are so darn cute. I have done these for pretty much every baby shower I’ve made cookies for. I got the idea from the index page of Sweet Sugar Belle My favorite part of this set of baby faces is the tiny lips. They are so cute and pouty. Baby pouts are the best!
I made those little lips using royal icing transfers. I love transfers because you can make tons of them and choose the cute ones. No pressure. Who cares if your son bumps into you while you are piping. You just won’t use that one. That is also how I did the little flowers on her hat.
I received the best compliment on these cookies at the shower. Danielle’s grandmother told me that they tasted as good as they look. Which is high praise!
We are really excited for Brent and Danielle to be parents. We wonder how they will approach parenting from an engineering standpoint. Should be pretty interesting!
