Best Pizza In Brooklyn

Juliana’s Pizza

Where Is It? 19 Old Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201-1322

We’re starting our list off with a true classic of Brooklyn pizza culture, Juliana’s Pizza. Interestingly, Juliana’s Pizza has a fascinating and unexpected history, in that the restaurant is in partnership with Patsy Grimaldi.

If you don’t know the name, they’re one of the most celebrated pizza proprietors in all of New York City, having founded the legendary Grimaldi’s Pizza with his late wife.

Grimaldi’s is now a famous pizzeria chain with several restaurants all over the United States, but Grimaldi and his wife retired from it two decades ago.

Now Patsy Grimaldi returns, bringing his astonishing experience to Brooklyn’s Juliana’s Pizza, including all his legendary techniques.

This means that the pizza crusts are perfectly thin, their toppings are either housemade or sourced from the finest places, and the pizza is turned professionally in the original hand-built coal-fired oven.

What Do They Offer?

But enough talking about the quality of the pizzas, let’s see what pizzas you can get your hands on!

To start with, Juliana’s Pizza has a few classic pizzas to get you started with, and these are all available in personal, medium, or large size. The classic pizzas are: margherita pizza, white pizza, calzone, and marinara pizza.

However, you can then adapt these classic pizzas by adding additional toppings for an additional fee. There’s a limit of two extra toppings per pizza pie, but the range is impressive.

For example, you can pick from meatballs, prosciutto, sausage with fennel, and pepperoni.

Meanwhile, if you don’t want meat, then there’s plenty of other choices: anchovies, arugula, extra mozzarella or tomato, ricotta, roasted peppers, sweet onion, and more.

Truly, you can have it your way, and that’s one of the reasons that Julian’s Pizza holds the crown of Brooklyn’s pizza efforts.

There’s also a range of “Pizza Specials” you can pick from. You can’t alter any of the toppings on them, but you won’t want to because they’re so finely calibrated for maximum mouth watering(see also: Best 9 Persimmon Recipes That Will Make Your Mouth Water). For example, one special pizza has mozzarella, Italian bacon, scallions, and no tomato.

Meanwhile, Julian’s also offers starter soups and salads, a few spaghetti dishes, sweets for dessert, and a range of teas, coffees, and soft drinks.

It’s a menu with something for everyone! Additionally, you can also order and pick-up pizzas, or get a premium Take & Bake pizza pie, which you can quickly heat up in your oven at home.

Roberta’s Pizza

Where Is It? 261 Moore Street, Brooklyn, NY 11206-3816

Our next pick is the brilliant Robert’s Pizza, a Brooklyn pizza favorite and one that has a cozy atmosphere and a dense menu.

Roberta’s Pizza is a chain with plenty of locations, proving that it’s clearly popular and offers a fine pizza or two. They offer both dine-in and takeout, meaning that you can enjoy one of their famous pizzas easily and wherever you want.

What Do They Offer?

Roberta’s Pizza in Brooklyn has both a lunch menu and a dinner menu, so your meal will depend on what time you’re going to eat there.

When it comes to pizza, the menus thankfully aren’t too different, but there are a few pizzas exclusive to the different menus, and there are also additional toppings that you can only get at the different times.

Thankfully, the majority of pizzas are available at both lunch and dinner time. The Rosso pizza is the cheapest, but it’s certainly not lacking in quality!

Topped with tomato, moregano, extra virgin olive oil, and garlic, it’s a simple pizza with a lot of flavor. Meanwhile, they also offer a classic margherita pizza.

Other pizzas available at lunch and dinner include Famous Original, Bee Sting (which has chili and honey on it!), White and Greens, and Porchettaaboutit. The toppings are varied, and there’s truly a pizza for everyone.

Meanwhile, the lunch menu exclusively offers Lil’ Stinker (which has double garlic!) and Crispy Glover, a pizza with breadcrumbs.

On the other hand, the dinner menu exclusively offers the El Supremo (including toppings like bell pepper and pecorino cheese) and Ursula’s Parade, another pizza with breadcrumbs on it.

Of course, diners can add plenty of additional pizza toppings to their base pizzas at an extra cost. There are loads of toppings to choose from, you’ll be spoiled for choice!

There are a few more toppings available on the lunch menu, but the dinner menu is still packed too. Extra toppings include: pepperoncini peppers, honey, basil, mozzarella, mushrooms, capers, pork sausage, soppressata, pepperoni, and many more.

Roberta’s Pizza offers an enormous amount of choice and customization, making it one of Brooklyn’s best places for pizza. Additionally, you can also get grill meals, pasta dishes, desserts, and more.

L&B Spumoni Gardens

Where Is It? 2725 86th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11223-3507

While the other entries on our list so far have largely been Brooklyn pizza places that primarily focus on pizza, but also offer a few other types of dish, L&B Spumoni Gardens is a true Italian restaurant that offers a bit of everything Italian.

They have an enormous range of pasta dishes, seafood meals, grill options, chicken & veal entrees, and more. However, they do of course offer some terrific pizza too, and that’s why they’re placed highly on our list!

What Do They Offer?

Admittedly, since L&B Spumoni gardens offer so many other types of Italian dish, their range of pizza isn’t quite as stacked as other restaurants. However, that doesn’t mean that every slice isn’t going to melt in your mouth all the same!

L&B specializes in Sicilian-style pizzas, which are a little different to the types of pizza you might usually have. For one thing, the crust is often thicker and the sauce is put on top of the cheese. In addition to those, the pizza is also square or rectangular!

But what pizzas do they offer in this format? To start with, you can either buy a single slice for $4 or an entire pie.

There are a handful of toppings available for the whole pies only, and these are: extra cheese, sausage, mushroom, pepperoni, and anchovies. It may be a short list, but each of these toppings are totally delicious.

Meanwhile, you can also buy the World Famous L&B Sicilian Pie, the pizza that the restaurant is famous for and one that makes any trip to this Brooklyn restaurant well worthwhile.

Grimaldi’s Pizzeria

Where Is It? 1 Front Street Underneath Bridge, Brooklyn, NY 11201

You’ll already know the name Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, either because you remember us mentioning it at the start of the list or because it’s such a famous chain! Well, thankfully you can enjoy Grimaldi’s Pizzeria right in Brooklyn, sampling their famous pizzas and having a great meal.

As we mentioned earlier, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria was originally founded by the Grimaldis, who then retired, before the husband came back to work on Juliana’s Pizza.

Naturally, like Juliana’s Pizza, you can expect an extremely high level of quality and a pizza that will keep you coming back again and again. Don’t believe us? Just go and try a slice!

What Do They Offer?

Grimaldi’s Pizzeria is famous all over the United States, with countless different branches, and you can enjoy their brilliant menu right here in Brooklyn.=

They have a wide range of pizzas with the perfect toppings already selected, or you can add a selection of additional toppings onto them to make the meal more your own.

These include a classic margherita, the Brooklyn Bridge (featuring ricotta, peppers, and sausage), Quattro Formaggi (which means “four cheeses” and unsurprisingly contains four delicious cheeses!), and Prosciutto Arugula Pizza.

Additionally, there’s also The Don (topped with Italian sausage, pepperoni, and meatballs!) and Garden Pesto Pizza, a great pizza for those who don’t want meat.

Meanwhile, you can also get a range of coal brick-oven pizzas, with traditional, pesto, and white with garlic varieties available.

On top of that, there’s a few gluten friendly pizzas available on request, as well as pizzas with cauliflower crusts. And if you want a calzone instead? They’ve got those too!

They pride themselves on offering one of the most authentic Neapolitan pizzas in Brooklyn, and they have a fantastic menu that’s going to spoil you for choice.

What Do They Offer?

When it comes to their wide range of pizzas, Sottocasa Pizzeria offers two different types: pizza rosse and pizza bianche.

For those who don’t know, pizza rosse is pizza that’s spread with tomato sauce, while pizza bianche is a pizza that has been made without tomato or marinara sauce, instead topped with white cheeses.

Sottocasa recommends that you try their pizzas the way they carefully designed them, but you can add extra toppings if you want – at a cost!

Additional toppings include things like parmigiano, truffle oil, capers, mushrooms, hot Italian sausage, hot soppressata, prosciutto di parma, and more.

Paulie Gee’s

Where Is It? 60 Greenpoint Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11222

Up next is Brooklyn’s own Paulie Gee’s, which is a pizza place that offers dine-in only. While this is a shame for any takeout lovers who want to enjoy a slice at home, Paulie Gee’s does it because their pizzas are best enjoyed straight out of the oven.

Thankfully, though, the place has a great atmosphere for you to enjoy their pizzas in, and they’ve got a great menu of pizzas and vegan pizzas.

What Do They Offer?

When it comes to pizza, Paulie Gee’s is hard to beat. They have an enormous selection of different pizzas – and we mean enormous – each with funny names and carefully selected toppings. There are way too many to cover here, so we’ll just show off some of the best!

The “Brian De Parma” pizza, named after the famous film director, is simple but delicious: it has parmigiano reggiano and Italian tomatoes. Meanwhile, the Porkypineapple is one for all those people who love pineapple with their pizza (we’re on your side!).

On the other hand, the Pastrami Reuben features swiss, sauerkraut, pastrami, and other ingredients. And the “Hellboy” pizza? It’s got a range of ingredients, including some delicious hot honey.

Paulie Gee’s also offers various vegan pizzas, making it a pizzeria that’s accessible to all! A great pick is the “In Ricotta Da Vegan”, which has vegan tomato sauce, vegan sausage, cashew ricotta dollops, baby arugula, and some extra virgin olive oil. Delicious!

Campania Coal Fired Pizza

Where Is It? 9824 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11209-8152

Our next choice is Campania, one of the best restaurants in Brooklyn. They offer a range of dishes, but their pizzas come first and foremost, and for good reason. Gourmet and coal-fired, they’re delicious!

What Do They Offer?

Like Sottocasa Pizzeria, their menu is divided into “red pizza” and “white pizza”, which is pizza with a tomato sauce base and pizza with a cheese base respectively.

When it comes to red pizzas, Campania has a range of classics. You can get a rustica, lombarda, margherita, Americana, piccante, and more.

Meanwhile, the white pizzas list includes: pesto, torino, carciofi, amalfi, and nonna. Additionally, they also offer a deep fried or baked calzone for you to enjoy, stuffed with delicious ingredients, and there is a selection of pizza rolls on offer too.

Of course, you can also add extra toppings to the classic pizzas, or even have your own entirely custom-made pizza!

The toppings cover everything you could possibly want, with plenty of meats (meatballs, chicken, sausage, pepperoni), cheese (ricotta, mozzarella), and things like anchovies, garlic, truffle oil, eggplant, spinach, and much more.

Motorino Brooklyn

Where Is It? 139 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11211-6129

We’re finishing our list with the fantastic Motorino Brooklyn, which offers indoor and outdoor dining, as well as delivery.

What Do They Offer?

Once again, Motorino offers a great selection of red and white pizzas. They’ve got classics like the margherita and the marinara for the reds, as well as variations of a soppressata piccante (featuring delicious salami!) and the “meatball” (a pizza with pork meatballs on it), among others.

As for the white pizzas, there’s plenty too. For example, the cremini mushroom pizza is packed with mushrooms and sausage, while the colatura di alici pizza has chili flakes to give it a hint of spiciness.

Meanwhile, the cherrystone clam pizza has cherrystone clams on it – perfect for those who want a seafood pizza! Of course, you can also add extra toppings.
