Valentine’s Day Conversation Hearts

Valentine Day Conversation Hearts

'Member these guys?  Conversation hearts used to be the only candy that I got at my elementary school Valentine's Day party.  The purple and pink ones had some sort of terrible chemical flavor and were ALWAYS the last ones left in the bag.  Eventually I would eat those ones too because, I was, well, desperate.  I have always had a thing for sugar. Now days  conversation hearts say really cool things like "text me" and "LOL." But I am very disappointed to say that the purple and … [Read more...]

Anita’s Kitchen Code of Ethics

What basic ingredients are worth the extra cost and effort. I'm an actual human being. I have a husband, kids, a job, all that kind of good stuff. Plus, I realize food can get pricey. So I laugh when Ina Garten and good ole' Martha talk about running to the farmers market to pick out some gorgeous or beautiful ingredient that most people have never heard of. But... Teriyaki Glazed Salmon

Terikyaki Glazed Salmon

As a child, fish was possibly one of the worst punishments my mom could dole out. Maybe it was because we didn't eat it very often so it was new and therefore GROSS! I know a few people who still feel that way (ahem, Jen Jen.) At some point in time, I realized that I like fish and now that I am a busy, forgetful mom, I love fish. It is quick to prepare and in my book that is a huge bonus! Besides being quick, fish is really good for you. And sometimes I try to remember to fix healthy foods for … [Read more...]

Super Bowl Worthy Buffalo Wings

Superbowl Worthy Buffalo Wings

I love the Super Bowl for one reason, okay maybe two. I mostly enjoy eating appetizers, bean dips, crackers and cheese, guacamole. It also gives me the perfect excuse to make Super Bowl Worthy Buffalo Wings. It is simply a match made in Heaven-hot wings and football. Don't get me wrong, I make them other times also, but I feel justified eating them during the Super Bowl. The Strongman (aka my husband) loves anything buffalo flavored. We go through a lot of Frank's Red Hot Sauce at our house. … [Read more...]

Chicken Pot Pie Crumble

Chicken Pot Pie Crumble

I have discovered that my daughter loves chicken pot pie. Who knew? I think it is pretty yummy too. She skips around the room when she finds out that is what is for dinner. I like it because I can make it earlier in the day, put it in the refrigerator and then my husband can throw it in the oven for the nights when I'm at work. I have a thing with pie crust, though. I just don't like it. Well, I like the top of a pie crust, but the bottom layers is always soggy. And that is gross! This recipe … [Read more...]
